Full details of the prize will be supplied to the winner following notification. There is a maximum of one winner for the competition. No cash alternatives or substitutions will be provided. The winner will be randomly generated by The Promoter, and will receive a cash prize of £500 and a selection of John Adams games to play, keep and report back on. You must only enter yourself into the competition, entries on behalf of other people will be discounted. To be in with a chance of winning, entrants should submit their application via email to including their full name, age, address, email address, telephone number and 100 words explaining why they want to be a ‘Board Director’. The competition starts at 12am Monday 22nd November and closes at Friday 10th December 5pm. Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a legal parent/guardian to be eligible to enter. The competition is open to all UK residents aged 16 and over (except employees and families of the Promoter and its affiliate companies, agencies and anyone professionally connected with the promotion). The annual paybill for this lot is in the region of £13bn - which is probably an underestimate. It tells you the pay band for each one and the salary bill for the staff who directly report to them. There's a sample below too, if you scroll down for the 1,000 whose names have been published. Not all of them are named but the departmental structure and how much they get paid is included. That still gives us a pretty substantial list: 3,822 of Britain's most senior civil servants. We've decided to focus on senior rather than junior departmental posts - you can get these from. It doesn't include the people working at the coalface in jobcentres around the country, for instance. We've pulled those spreadsheets together into one huge document, which contains the data for every department.īut what does the data tell us? Firstly, it only covers the senior civil servants - those who make policy in Whitehall. 
It's a huge improvement on the last time the Cabinet office did this - and this time each department has been forced to release the underlying data as a spreadsheet in consistent formats. It's part of the first big update of, the UK's (better) answer to. The Cabinet Office today released the full structural details of every government department, from the big hitters of health and education down to the tiniest of government agencies.
The mass publication of Whitehall's organisational charts is not an immediately obvious victory for open government data, but that's what it is.
